VW Bus
Woodstock…
We decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, you know…as one does, and we obviously needed a 6 foot tall VW Bus for our photo booth. The only problem was we couldn’t find one we liked. Enter me.
I started out by getting a rough estimate of just how large this thing needed to be and then figuring out if our in-house print shop could even print it (they could). After sketching out some engineering ideas and the bus itself, we went with breaking the design into two halves that could be mounted then attached together. The car logo and license plate were printed and mounted separately so they could be layered on top to disguise the center seam. I cut and mounted the bus by hand (we didn’t have a die cutter available to us, but I had an x-acto knife and a dream) then designed “feet” that could be installed on the backside to provide support so it wouldn’t tip over while in use.
It was a HUGE success. Everyone had a blast dressing up and getting their photos taken.
